The first ride of the 2015 season is now behind the group. Despite 39 degree temperatures in the morning, a hearty group of club members met at Whiskey Island to get some wind therapy and scratch the entrepreneurial business itch.
Owner Larry Fulton gave the club a real clinic on the trials and tribulations of owning and running a small manufacturing company, LEFCO Worthington. The company is a decisively low tech manufacturer of custom wood and steel crates, pallets and racks. They solve shipping problems for their clients on a world wide basis. However Larry has evolved the business into a increasingly sophisticated operation, guiding it through the recession, employing lean manufacturing techniques and challenging the employees to be stakeholders in an improving growing business. As a pure learning experience this is going to be a hard one to beat.
The next ride is May 28th. We are hoping for 70 degree weather.
